DR Concert Hall
DR Concert Hall
The Danish Broadcasting Company's (DR) new concert hall, designed by the famous French architect Jean Nouvel, is one of the new architectural attractions in Copenhagen.
Decisive choices and big contrasts mark the Concert Hall. Mat, grey concrete walls play up to floors of bright steel squares, and from the glass roof in the spacious foyer there is a glimpse of the stars.
The Concert Hall actually houses four different halls. Each varies in architecture and expression, ranging from the big hall in warm colours, over the cooler one in black and white, to the intimate hall in red.
The architect Jean Nouvel has worked closely together with the Japanese acoustic specialist Yasuhisa Toyota, and each of the four halls have variable acoustics that can be tailored to a given ensemble or musical genre.
Guided tours Saturday and Sunday at 10.45am and 2pm. Tickets DKK 100.
