Norman Foster's elephant house in Copenhagen is an outstanding architectural landmark and an admirable attempt to design a home away from home for the animals. Visitors get to see the elephants against the backdrop of the lush Frederiksberg Gardens, while visitors to the park can follow the elephants' lives in both the old and new spectacular elephant environments. The glass-domed Elephant House contains two large stables and an intriguing interactive exploration centre. The elephants' outdoor space was designed as a semi-arid river bed containing a 10-ft deep basin where the elephants enjoy taking their baths.
