Since 1963, Vindheimar has figured as a summer-artgallery for the artist/painter Alfred I. Jensen and his wife – the Icelandic painter and graphic artist María H. Ólafsdóttír.

In the wintertime they lived in Copenhagen together with their two daughters.Alfred and María were members of the Artistgroup SE, of which Alfred also were president. Every year in august they returned back to the city, so he could prepare the annual autumn exhibition in Charlottenborg. 

María died in 1979. Alfred moved to Vindheimar and started a life. He gave up the exhibitions, and concentrated on his art and prefered not to sell any of it. His dream was to turn Vindheimar into a museum of the Artistgroup SE.  

From 1981 he lived and worked in Vindheimar together with his new wife, midwife Jytte Aa. Møller, and their daughter. He died in 2006 and left a couple of hundred oilpaintings, a large amount of orignial graphic art and other art on paper, diaries, SE-catalogs, SE-posters etc. 

Jytte opened the Artisthouse and let the publicity in, in march 2010. She offers children and adults a guided tour in the artists house and garden.  Visitors are welcome to sit down for a few hours, look around, have a cup of tea and perhaps look through the portfolios with art.
